New (to me) Pieces to my Home

and

It's officially permitted to start decorating for Christmas!!

_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_

Small container which became a cute addition to my coffee bar!

I chose to keep sugar in it, but anything would work!
Cinnamon, powdered creamer etc.. Seasonal things would work great too

The green lid matches my dining room perfectly!!

A beautiful piece of Furniture from my Mother-in-Law, Joan!

I love everything about this. Most of all the color!

I remember this piece catching my eye the first time I was at
my in-laws home. I will always cherish it and do my best to keep it
original.
Vuala!

My husband and I worked together to get this Simply Said piece on
the wall. It is very cute and completes this bedroom with an earthy feel.

........................................................

Thanksgiving and Black Friday mark the time when it is considered by many to start decorating and planning for Christmas! I have been ready for about a month now!

....a few of my favorite Christmas decorations....
A crate from the Junk bonanza

I just added some garland and lights, and of course some Burlap!!

On to of the fridge!

I have many snowmen, I love those little guys. This one is
cookie jar!

The fatter the better :)

Plate and Candle = table centerpiece

Tree #1, Zip's tree

What a lush...

Our wood stove is all hooked up in the basement and keeps
it very cozy! This stove was a gift from my Mom's Boyfriend to us when
we purchased our house. The basement had the perfect spot for it.

Tree #2, in the basement
The tree skirt was made by my Aunt Sandy and was a
gift to my Parents. I somehow inherited it.

It has been such a joy decorating for our
First Christmas in our
First House :)

Another favorite part of Christmas for me is
Giving & Receiving
Christmas Cards!

This past weekend I attended a Christmas Cirque Winter Wonderland performance with my
Mom & Nannie.

Love them for all they have taught me!

We had a great evening.

This made me even more excited for
the Holidays! My Brother in Law, Andrew got us great tickets right up front. If you ever have the opportunity to see Cirque du Soleil, do it!! Its amazing! Have a good week and good luck with
Christmas decorating, cooking, baking, and
Sharing!

The last piece I wanted to add to ..this post..

I received some Thank You cards in the mail and admired how they made me feel.
Sending a Thank you is a
--Quick--
..Simple..
{Straightforward}

way to show you were grateful and appreciated what someone did for you.
With Thanksgiving coming up I thought I would mention it, and spread the warm  "thankful" feelings.

This is one of the most special Thank-You's I have received. It is from my friend Janet's Mother from Fargo, I hosted a Breakfast for all her Bridesmaids and Ladies in the wedding on her wedding day. Everyone got ready and sipped Mimosas. It was great to hear how delighted it made her feel that day.

Until Next time!

days in the year as you make use of."

What a find!

Today my fellow modern old soul and I stopped at a roadside yard sale.

I am a total fan of garage sales but this was an antique yard sale!
There was no walking through smelly, dirty garages or rummaging through another's random and outdated holiday decorations.  There were so many cool finds!

Molly found a car load (literally) of awesome steals and I was pretty pleased with my tiny, yet, just as awesome, find.

This antique green bedside clock pretty much made my day- it's so cute!

It pairs really well next to the wood picture frame and picture of Shane and I (at prom!) that I have in my bedroom.  Love makes the world go round and the clock keep ticking

Wood surely warms up any room.  It really can go with any style of a home, in any room of the house, with any wall color, for all ages.  Wood is simple, sleek, and timeless; it can really work wonders in any home.

Life is about the

little things,

so, instead of taking time to stop and smell the

 flowers,

take the time to stop at a

roadside yard sale!

Real Pumpkin- Pumpkin Pie

THIS IS A MUST TRY!

How can I beat Molly's posts?? She's such a natural blogger!

Attend class - CHECK!

Study - CHECK!

Sleep - almost check...

Make pumpkin pie from a real pumpkin - CHECK!

___________

Honestly, I never really knew that people ever made pumpkin pies from a REAL pumpkin.  Canned pumpkin hails at my house.
____________

The pumpkins used are not normal carving pumpkins.  They are referred to as
pie pumpkins
or
sugar pumpkins,
or a similar name.

____________

Personally, I think that everyone should try making food/meals as
homemade
as possible as often as possible simply because it's
always better.

That's why our
grandma's
food is so delicious- she's got all the
secret homemade recipes!

With my grandma's homemade crust, this pie was a hit at my house.  I am begging
everyone to try making a homemade real pumpkin pie at some point this fall
(Thanksgiving is comin' up fast!).
Not only does it taste better, but honestly,
what's better that having the feeling of doing something from scratch and having everyone love it??

To me, having people adore the food that I dedicated extra time to is... priceless.

____________

Here is the recipe that I used.
Pumpkin Pie (scroll down a bit for the link to the actual recipe)

She made a canned and real pumpkin pie and took them
"to the streets"
 to see which was preferred.

Guess which pie won??

Grandma's Pie Crust
3/4 cup butter flavored Crisco
2 cups flour
pinch of salt

Mix until crumbly.  Add 5 tablespoons cold water one tablespoon at a time and mix.

Before I put it in the oven- of course I had to make it look pretty.

Let me know how your pie turns out!
